I'm A Celeb's James Haskell is fourth star to leave - and opens up about 'rattiness' in camp

James Haskell has become the fourth celebrity to leave the jungle.

The rugby star, 34, was teary as he walked across the bridge and admitted that he was “quite emotional”.

Asked why he took part in the show, he said: “I’ve got a few friends on the show who called it a life-changing experience… I leapt at the opportunity.”

However he admitted that his body “shut down” as he struggled with rationing – which was in stark contrast to his 4,000 calories a day.

He said: “My body started to shut down bizarrely, it was the fact that I can’t abide walking past jobs that aren’t done Me and Caitlyn were like an old married couple so I was burning up calories. In the evenings and afternoons I couldn’t concentrate and didn’t have anything in my legs.”

James said that he had enjoyed helping other people in camp

Opening up about what he liked most about camp, he said that he “enjoyed helping other people”.

“I am a stickler for chivalry and wanted to be the last to eat but normally everyone would give me a bit of their food,” he said.

“I really struggled, everybody in camp was so kind to me,” James said but insisted he was “quite chivalrous” in camp.

Asked about his rattiness in camp, he said: “I think I would have been ratty if I was fully fed. The Dingo Dollar Challenge is a 50-50 question and they want to have this debate and powerpoint presentation.

“When we come to it, it is put your hand up for a or b. It is not that hard and you have to cut through the nonsense.”

He revealed that he wanted Jacqueline Jossa to win after having a “tough time” and said he was keen to “prove herself wrong”.

James said he had struggled with the lack of food

This comes after former EastEnders star Cliff Parisi left the jungle last night.

He has since joined formed campmates Adele Roberts and Andrew Maxwell in the luxurious Palazzo Versace hotel as they wait for the rest of their co-stars to join them.

Call The Midwife star Cliff, 59, didn’t seem too sad to be out and dashed across the bridge to meet Ant and Dec.

“I’m heartbroken, I really wanted to win,” Cliff said sarcastically, adding: “Unless you’ve done it, you have no idea.”

Soap star Cliff admitted that he had struggled to adapt with the other stars in the show.

He said: “No matter how much you watch you will never have an idea of what it is like. If anyone gets offered I would advise to do it.

Cliff was glad to be out of the jungle

“But I went into myself and there were some big conversations you couldn’t get into, I felt slightly isolated and I was thinking why kill yourself. Lots of people were fighting for the limelight so I thought step back and enjoy it.”

Asked why he had decided to take part, Cliff quipped: “The tax man!”

Probed about the reaction he and Andy had received as late arrivals, he remarked: “I felt as welcome as a fart in a spacesuit!”

He was ecstatic to leave the jungle

Cliff revealed that he had snuck something into camp without being caught.

“I managed to sneak some stuff in my pants,” Cliff revealed, explaining it had been “some salt and pepper”.

Asked who he wants to win, Cliff said: “I would love to see Kate win it, Roman was a fabulous young man and Andy.”

Cliff was one of two latecomers who joined the show at the end of the first week in camp for the rest of the contestants.

Whilst Andy Whyment seemed to cope with camp life well, Cliff seemed to struggle and was ruled out of most trials on medical grounds, meaning he did not get much screen time.

The actor also seemed to struggle with his energy levels and fellow contestants Adele Roberts said: “Cliff has got his own struggles. He is putting in work, it is just that he likes to sleep a lot as well. I used to play like Wheres Wally? and see where Cliff was sleeping today.

“He does this thing where you are chatting and you think you are pouring your heart out and you look at him and he is falling asleep. You are like ‘am I boring you Cliff?’.”
